別荘のあるイングランドの南海岸を何度も散歩しながら見つけた動物のような石をまとめた1冊で、数十ものコレクションされた石と、彼らが石を見つけた南海岸の風景やその時の背景、Jack Mamaのドローイングなどが収録されています。
この本は2022年にStudiomamaが発表した作品製作の際に出た端材から作り出した"Offcuts Creature"と呼ばれる生物をまとめた本、『The Off-Cuts Book』と姉妹本のように考えられています。
『Stone Animals』は、石を対象として、また『The Off-Cuts Book』は廃材を対象として、どちらのプロジェクトも石と廃材を抽象的に捉え、生き物のように見立てるという点で連続性があり、見る人独自の想像力で様々な解釈ができます。
本書には、デザインライター、キュレーター、コンサルタントであるLibby Sellersや、造形作家のCornelia Parkerによる寄稿文も掲載されています。

This book was published by London-based stutiomama.
It is a compilation of animal-like stones that were found during numerous walks along the south coast of England, where the artist has a holiday home.
"Stone Animals" is considered to be a sister book to "The Off-Cuts Book", a collection of ‘Offcuts Creature’ creatures created from scrap wood from Studiomama's production in 2022.
Stone Animals is about stone and The Off-Cuts Book is about offcuts. Both projects have a continuity in that they take stone and offcuts in an abstract way and make them look like living things, which can be interpreted in different ways according to the viewer's own imagination.
The book also features contributions from design writer, curator and consultant Libby Sellers and figurative artist Cornelia Parker.
